Agenda

14:30 – 14:40

Human layer security: The future of data privacy

Tony Pepper, Co-founder and CEO, Egress

Human layer security is an emerging category of technology that solves an old problem: people cause data breaches every day, often without meaning to!

Traditional technologies have failed to mitigate insider risk simply because they have been unable to dynamically respond to a thoroughly unpredictable threat vector: people.

Hear Egress CEO Tony Pepper as he launched Human Layer Security Live 2020, a virtual event dedicated to exploring insider data breach risk, and gaining insights from industry leaders into the practical ways organisations can quantify and tackle this threat.

The many faces of insider risk

Eric O'Neill, former FBI counter-terrorism and counterintelligence operative

Insider risk has many faces, so it's difficult to anticipate where the next major threat will come from. Is it a jaded employee, a tired co-worker, or even a cyber-spy?

In this keynote presentation, former FBI operative Eric O'Neill explained how he helped uncover and catch cyber-spy Robert Hanssen, offering a view of the dramatic and not-so-dramatic insider risks faced by organisations on a daily basis. Eric also explores the changing nature of insider risk in times of COVID-19, as we go from one to one million offices, and look to support a highly flexible workforce in future.

The human factor in insider data breaches

Lisa Forte, Partner, Red Goat Cyber Security LLP

The number of insider data breaches continues to increase – demonstrating that the technology and techniques we’ve been using to try to mitigate this risk just don’t work

We urgently need to rethink our approach. And this starts with the human factor.

Hear from Lisa Forte, Partner at Red Goat Cyber Security LLP, she uncovers why our psychology and behaviours result in data breaches – and the key considers you need to address to truly mitigate your organisation’s insider threat.

Putting people first for proactive risk management

Christian Toon, CISO, Pinsent Masons

Organisations have often overlooked human-activated insider risks – but today’s holistic cybersecurity strategy demands a change that elevates and addresses this threat.

Christian outlined why modern enterprises should take a proactive approach to managing insider breach risk. Christian examines how people create risk by simply doing their jobs, and provide actionable insights into how CISOs can identify and mitigate these threats without jeopardising operational efficiency.

Panel session: Human layer security for the real world

Jon Segger, Information Security Manager, Linklaters LLP
Ste Watts, Head of Security Operations, Aldermore Bank
Tony Pepper, CEO, Egress (chair)

Insider data breaches don’t happen in your organization – or do they?

This panel session addresses the prevalence of insider data breach risk for modern enterprises, and discusses the significant impact these incidents can have on regulatory compliance and an organization’s bottom line. Together, the panel also examines solutions to mitigating this risk, looking at why legacy technologies have failed to solve this problem and the strengths of alternative, intelligent technologies.

16:20 – 16:40

DLP has evolved – have you?

Neil Larkins, Co-founder and COO, Egress

Legacy DLP technologies have failed you. They are unable to cater to the way people interact with sensitive data and, as a result, have failed to detect and mitigate insider risk, particularly over email.

But there is an alternative – and it’s one you need to implement today to prevent your breaches of tomorrow.

Hear from Egress COO Neil Larkins as he explains the limitations of static DLP technologies, and why modern enterprises are turning to contextual machine learning to mitigate risk in their human layer.

Quantifying human risk: The first step to a secure future

Ed Amoroso, CEO at TAG Cyber LLC and former-CISO at AT&T

Research shows sensitive data is put at risk due to email usage every 1.5 days – but in reality, this figure is much higher.

That’s because more than half of CISOs rely on employees and their recipients to report email data breaches, despite this approach being inherently unreliable. As a result, CISOs are unable to accurately measure insider risk and deploy technology to properly mitigate it.

Join this session on-demand to understand how the latest technological innovation helps organizations fully quantify and address the risk of employees sharing sensitive data via email.
