The reality of reducing human activated risk

Presented by Tony Pepper

People are involved in 85% of data breaches.* Reducing human activated risk is mission critical – but it can be difficult to cut through the cybersecurity industry’s unrealistic expectations of how this problem can be solved. In this session, Egress CEO Tony Pepper will talk about the reality of reducing human activated risk by putting people front and center of the solution.

Is the cyber security industry selling snake oil?

Presented by Carol Meyers, Keith Price, Clint Poole, and Robin Bell

The cyber security industry is a hotbed of start-ups bringing technologies to market that solve the complex problems created by the rapidly evolving threat landscape. But these vendors often struggle to articulate how their technology works, instead resorting to marketing buzzwords, hype, and unsubstantiated claims.

This session will explore how cyber technology buyers can navigate the market and cut through the hype.

Cutting through the hype of artificial intelligence in cyber security

Presented by Jack Chapman, and Andrew F2

Cyber Technology Track: Session 1

Many branches of AI are used in cyber security solutions, including machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision. But what do these terms mean, and are the technologies useful – or even a reality? With vendors presenting AI as a black box solution to today’s sophisticated threats, it can be difficult to tell.

Join this session to gain an insight into the common AI technologies used in cyber and the questions your need to ask the vendors touting them.

The security of artificial intelligence

Presented by Jack Chapman

Cyber Technology Track: Session 2

AI is touching all our lives, across numerous applications, including cyber security. But is AI itself secure? Like any technology, it presents an attack surface, so you need to understand it to understand the risk associated with it.

With many vendors presenting AI as a black box solution, how do you qualify that risk? This session help answer that question and include practical demonstrations of how AI can be subverted.

The personal impact of a ransomware attack

Presented by Lisa Forte

Cyber Strategy Track: Session 2

When the worst happens, it is your people who have to manage the crisis, make decisions, and put out statements. It is your people who have to handle complaints, deal with the warzone that is social media, and work to keep as many operations going as possible. Human beings make mistakes under pressure. Our cognitive processes get suppressed and without training and practice, we can easily make wrong decisions.

In this talk, we will look at the real-world reality of a ransomware attack and how it is the humans you employ who can make this a success or a failure to be cited in infosec talks forever more.

Leapfrog from SA&T compliance-as-a-strategy, to actual behavior & culture change

Presented by Jinan Budge, and Duncan Mills

Security remains plagued with the legacy of compliance-driven, security awareness & training tools and methods. As more transformational security and tech leaders and vendors realize the importance of the human element, and the ineffectiveness of how we are addressing human related challenges, we will start to move towards behavior and culture change. Use security awareness and training to not just train people for the sake of training them and foster real action.

Join this session to:

  • Get a view of future security awareness & training
  • Understand where to invest your SA&T resources
  • Learn how to disrupt the status quo to reach actual outcomes of behavior & culture change
